I've Got Honey Canvas Print

For this piece, I was thinking of creating an artwork with warm yellows, ambers & honey-like shades. Starting with this colour palette in mind, I began thinking of a story that could be told by using different motifs.

I have this butterfly in my lounge at home and noticed the honeycomb pattern. I love this graphic overlay and thought it would be really good to add this to my artwork. The embroidered bees I had found a few weeks before when I was buying a dress at the Wyld shop in Joo Chait. I knew then that these little bees would be fun to incorporate into a future piece.

The title comes from a line in an old song, it goes like this: “I’ve got a woman with plenty of money, she got the money & I got the hon”. The nature of this artwork is very playful, so I felt this title worked well. Continuing on with the playful nature,e I thought about adding more creatures - the birds & the bees and the fish in the sea …I’ve used a variety of techniques, you’ll see both fabric and wallpaper cut-outs for the flowers. For these wallpaper flowers have hand-painted yellow details. For the double happiness fish, which originally came from a Chinese paper cutout, I’ve screen printed both a velvety flock layer as well as a metallic foil. The fish stand out with all the warm tones of yellow and amber, and I felt that bringing this contrast in brought a good balance to the artwork.

The default frame for this print is: Champagne Gold with a White backing.

Our Canvas Prints have been coated for scratch, stain and water resistance. Due to numerous reports of framed prints hung using adhesive-backed hooks/strips falling off the wall, we strongly suggest using more secure hanging methods (eg:nails) or opting for unframed prints.
